Grad Students

Smog in the Valley

For students interested in pursuing a graduate degree in Environmental Policy Analysis, we offer a multidisciplinary program within the Graduate Group in Ecology.

It integrates the internationally recognized graduate ecology program with faculty and courses in Agricultural and Resource Economics, Applied Sciences, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Studies, Political Science, and the School of Law. The result is a program leading to the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Ecology that offers students rigorous preparation in policy analysis and quantitative social science.

Besides a firm grounding in ecology, the Environmental Policy Analysis program emphasizes the social sciences, particularly economics, political science, and planning, and research design and statistical methods. With this firm foundation, students specialize in one or more fields, including:

  • Conservation Biology Policy

  • Economic Analysis

  • Policy Process

  • Public Lands Management

  • Sustainable Land Use Regulation

  • Transportation Policy

  • Water Policy

  • Waste Management
